Sarah Evans

BA in Applied Learning and Development, Yoga Teacher, LMT, Peak Pilates Certified, Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Trainer

Sarah has been devoted to the healing movement arts for all of her adult life. Dancing is her most authentic self expression and personal therapeutic practice. It is her love of dance, particularly Lyrical Improv, that has inspired her to study various forms of therapeutic movement.

She began her journey as a Yoga teacher in 1995 and had the honor of studying with many great teachers including Gary Kraftsow, Rodney Yee, and Donna Farhi. In these early years she also studied meditation and Chi Kung which deepened her understanding of using breath to direct the flow of energy through the body. This is where her fascination began with mapping the expressions of the emotional body in the physical body.

In 1998, Sarah received a bachelor's degree from The University Of Texas in Applied Learning and Development. This education has helped to develop Sarah’s skills as a teacher, by increasing her understanding of how the process of learning unfolds differently for each person.

While at the University, Sarah also enjoyed her Physics and  Human Anatomy classes, which eventually led her to massage school in 2000 at The Texas Healing Arts Institute. During the next several years as a massage therapist, Sarah also became certified in Myofascial Release and Reiki, and completed a herbal medicine apprenticeship with EZ Herbs. Sarah also had the thrilling opportunity (2006-2010) to practice and perform as an aerialist on a full sized flying trapeze rig.

Pilates teacher certification from PEAK was the next addition to Sarah’s repertoire in 2006. She was drawn to Pilates because of it’s focus on strong structural lines. It was such a joy to combine her love of physics with her evolving study of embodiment. Teaching Pilates is rewarding to Sarah because she sees, time and again, that when her students’ strength of posture improves, so does their sense of confidence and personal empowerment.

Of all of these movement practices, the most inspiring has been discovering the GYROTONIC® Method in 2015. Sarah was certified as a Gyrokinesis and Gyrotonic trainer in 2018, and is still enamored with the beauty and grace of this multidimensional movement system. It is one of her greatest joys to witness her clients’ metamorphosis as they free their bodies and learn to flow in sacred geometric patterns of circles, spirals, and waves.
